Duathlon

Thanks to the gentle nudging of Sabrina, I signed up to compete in the Tuacahn Duathlon this last Saturday. All the Bird sister-in-laws competed (even amidst great challenges!! i.e. pregnancy, recent c-sections), and we made a fun morning out of it.

I had a great time. All that positive work-out energy returned (I had missed it for so long). I felt stronger than I have in a long time, but it came with a lot of work. I attended spin class regularly all winter long, and ran and ran on the stupid treadmill (sorry mr. treadmill, you are so boring) doing interval training all winter long. I guess all that training paid off.

Stats
Olympic Distance (5K run/ 22 mi bike/5K run)

Total time: 2:09:55

1st run: averaged 8 min/mile
bike: averaged 16.9 miles/hr
last run: averaged 8:15 min/mile

peggy that picture looks like i'm walking. good job again on such a great time! i wish we had a picture of all of us.
Oh, Peggy! You are great! I wish I could at least run a little bit, but in this whale condition the only thing I can do is walking or better to say...rolling like a ball! I can't wait to get back to normal and do some real exercise. You have been a real example for me in all that! We all miss you all!
Good Job Peg!! Quite the accomplishment.

That sounds like it was so much fun! Great times on your runs!

I was prepared to sign-up for the summer games triathlon, but it conflicted with a family reunion...so my first tri is still somewhere in the future...they sound so fun!

I'm looking for a bike. Any suggestions on what kind or where to get it?
