Castle on a Hill

A recent visit to Marostica, famous for it's live chess match, was beautiful. This live chess match, played in the towns' main piazza, plays 1 weekend in September, only on even years. So, we won't get to see it in 2007.

The day we arrived was a perfect day, clear and sunny, and cool. I was impressed with the intact wall completely surrounding the city, and the beautiful buildings and streets inside.

We hiked to the top of the city, and took some photos at the top ridge, overlooking the valley.
