Hot

We had a hankering for some good ol’ Mexican food, with homemade salsa. I can’t find cilantro or hot peppers at a typical grocery store, so I made the trip downtown to an Asian market to buy these two products. As I was looking at the peppers, I asked which one was “picante” or “spicy”. I was told which peppers were “molto, molto picante”, grabbed some fresh cilantro and I was on my way.

This morning, I started the chopping for the salsa, added one of the purchased red peppers to the mix instead of two Serrano peppers which I usually get in the states. After mixing the salsa, Ben was sure to give me a big bite which, I’m not kidding you, was the hottest salsa I have ever tasted. After cleaning up the salsa preparation, I noticed my fingers started to throb with a burning sensation. The throbbing continued, and continues even now (2 hours later) from the dicing of the peppers. I just researched which type of pepper it was that I bought and used in my salsa. Come to find out, I chose one of the most intensely spicy chili’s on the market, the Habanero. I also learned that as you seed and clean out the Habanero, you should wear gloves….
The salsa is delicious, but keep a few tissues on hand, and only touch the salsa to designated areas of your mouth...if it drips on your hands or chin, watch for that throbbing burning sensation!!

ha ha...funny. Reminds me of the picture you used to have of us in your violin case. We were at a mexican restaraunt and just before the picture was taken, I had dug into my very spicey meal. I think it was so hot, that I threw up.
